Artist Statement
Examining the texture form and color of seed pods, oak galls or human faces and figures is fascinating. Painting them is even more fun! Round organic forms are intriguing and can be a reflection of feminine mystique. When involved in creating art with this in mind, the discovery of infinite variations of color, pattern, texture and form are an inspiration. It is exciting to discover the unique design in each form.
In the rush of modern life, it is easy to become disconnected and to devalue other people and nature that is everywhere. While painting the sense of time disappears and the unique quality of each subject becomes valuable. When stopping to focus over time, the emotional content, inherent value, spirit, beauty and intimacy with each subject becomes important. By taking the effort to stop and look closely and respond, I am able to feel connected to the world. Perhaps the viewer will also have this experience when stopping to look at a painting.
